A Season of Pride and Passion
The 2025 AFL Queensland season has been one of the most inspiring in Marcellin Old Collegians AFC history. From the opening round to the final whistle of the home and away season, the Eagles soared above the competition to finish as Minor Premiers of QFA Division 3 Brisbane North.
With twelve wins, only two narrow defeats and a percentage soaring past 300, Marcellin played a brand of football that blended flair and resilience, thrilling supporters week after week.
Round by Round: The Eagles’ Journey
Round 1 – Marcellin 5.15 (45) def. Kedron 2.4 (16)
The season opened at Hickey Park with a 29 point win over Kedron. It was a strong statement of intent — disciplined, focused, and a sign of things to come.
Round 2 – Bye
Round 3 – Marcellin 9.10 (64) def. Aspley 2.3 (15)
After a week’s break, the Eagles dominated Aspley away from home, running out 49 point winners.
Round 4 – Marcellin 17.19 (121) def. Yeronga 0.0 (0)
In one of the highlights of the season, Yeronga were held scoreless as the Eagles piled on 17 goals in a 121 point demolition at Leyshon Park.
Round 5 – Marcellin 15.14 (104) def. Coorparoo 0.4 (4)
Back at Hickey Park, Coorparoo managed only four points while Marcellin stormed to 104. The 100 point margin underlined their dominance.
Round 6 – Bye
Round 7 – Marcellin 11.10 (76) def. Aspley 3.6 (24)
In the return clash, Marcellin won again by 52 points. Their ability to maintain standards week after week was becoming clear.
Round 8 – Marcellin 6.7 (43) def. Sandgate 4.9 (33)
Sandgate proved stubborn in a scrappy encounter, but the Eagles dug deep to claim a 10 point win.
Round 9 – Marcellin 14.13 (97) def. Ferny Grove 6.4 (40)
Back at home, Marcellin flexed their scoring power, defeating Ferny Grove by 57 points.
Round 10 – UQ 10.5 (65) def. Marcellin 6.11 (47)
University of Queensland handed Marcellin their first loss of the year, winning by 18 points at UQ Playing Fields. It was a reminder that no team can be taken lightly.
Round 11 – Marcellin 7.6 (48) def. Kedron 2.7 (19)
The Eagles responded strongly, winning by 29 points with a composed display that steadied their campaign.
Round 12 – Marcellin 14.17 (101) def. Coorparoo 6.8 (44)
At Giffin Park, the Eagles kicked 14 goals to run away 57 point winners, their forward line too slick to handle.
Round 13 – Aspley 4.4 (28) def. Marcellin 2.10 (22)
Aspley edged Marcellin by six points at Hickey Park in a tight contest. It was the Eagles’ second and final defeat of the year.
Round 14 – Marcellin 8.9 (57) def. UQ 2.6 (18)
Determined to respond, the Eagles rolled UQ by 39 points at home, regaining their edge as finals approached.
Round 15 – Bye
Round 16 – Marcellin 14.17 (101) def. Redcliffe 3.1 (19)
The Eagles piled on 14 goals in a ruthless 82 point win at Nathan Road.
Round 17 – Marcellin 16.12 (108) def. Mayne 2.4 (16)
The season finished in style with a 92 point demolition of Mayne at Hickey Park — the perfect statement to seal the Minor Premiership.
