The Beginning of a Vision
Established in 2017, Marcellin Old Collegians Australian Football Club began with a simple but powerful vision — to bring together graduates of Marist Catholic Colleges through the spirit of community, humility, and football. In doing so, it became the first Old Collegian-style AFL club in Queensland, forging a unique legacy rooted in tradition and family values.
Early Growth and Independence
Affiliated initially with Wilston Grange, the club grew steadily in its early years. By 2020, the Eagles were ready to soar under their own banner. Standing proudly as a standalone club, Marcellin OC AFC cemented its identity, not just in name or colours (gold and blue), but in culture. Players, volunteers, families and friends united to build something that felt like home.
Strength in the Marist Network
What truly sets Marcellin OC apart is its connection to the Marist network. With strong links to Marist College Ashgrove, Mount Maria College in Brisbane, and Marist schools in Noosa and Cairns, the club exists to keep those ties alive post-graduation, offering a welcoming landing pad for young people to stay involved in the game and community.
Living the Marist Values
The club’s connection to Marist College Ashgrove runs deep. Guided by the spirit of the Marist Brothers, the Eagles embody the Five Marist Characteristics that form the bedrock of the school’s ethos: Family Spirit, Love of Work, Simplicity, Presence, and In the Way of Mary.
These values aren’t just words — they shape the way players train, compete, and carry themselves on and off the field. Whether it’s building a supportive community, working diligently and generously for the team, staying humble in victory or defeat, showing genuine care for one another, or drawing inspiration from Mary’s example of faith and guidance, the Eagles live out these ideals every day.
A Sense of Belonging
This grounding also connects the club to broader Marist principles such as faith, compassion, honesty, generosity, and community. Together, they underpin the sense of belonging that makes Marcellin OC AFC unique.
For many, joining the Eagles isn’t just about playing football, it’s about finding a community that reflects the same values instilled at Marist schools in Brisbane and across Queensland.
Looking to the Future
But this is just the beginning. The Eagles are actively shaping the future. A new multi-sport, shared-use facility is in the works, envisioned as a modern hub in Brisbane’s inner north. The club is also laying the groundwork for a women’s football program, opening doors for more players to take the field.
More Than Just Football
Marcellin OC AFC is more than a football team. It’s a living, breathing community driven by modesty, humility, and family spirit. Whether you’re leaving school or looking to reconnect, there’s a place for you in the Eagles’ nest.
Fly high. Fly together. Fly with the Eagles.
